Two Storey Side Extension and single storey extension to rear - North Shields

This project involved the construction of a two-storey side extension and a single-storey rear extension to an existing property, creating a comfortable and self-contained living space for our clients’ elderly parents to reside next door to their family.

The two-storey side extension was carefully designed to integrate seamlessly with the original house, maintaining the character and proportions of the existing property while significantly increasing the internal living space. The layout was thoughtfully planned to provide practical, accessible accommodation tailored to the needs of the elderly occupants.

To the rear, a single-storey extension was added to form a bright, open-plan kitchen and living area, as shown in the attached image. This space was designed as the heart of the home, with a spacious, flowing layout that encourages both comfort and social interaction. Large openings allow natural light to flood the room, creating a warm and welcoming environment ideal for everyday living and family gatherings.

Overall, the project successfully delivers independent yet connected living, allowing our clients’ parents to enjoy their own dedicated space while remaining close to family support.
